We’d like to thank Mike Fanning for serving on the Greenland Board of Education. Mikes’s wife Shelly, their four children, and all of their grandchildren are either pirate alumni or a current pirate. Mike is a familiar voice here in the District. He announced at our home football games for twenty two years. Additionally, he has served our community as a Fire and Rescue First Responder for thirty eight years. When we asked Mike why he chooses to serve as a school board member he said to make sure all students succeed after graduation. #Gr8Day2BaPirate #SchoolBoardAppreciationMonth

Essential Outreach today. Jan. 21 from 10-11 am. see yah there baaabbyyy!!!
We celebrated some great accomplishments during this month's School Board meeting. Kem January and Bonnie Barnes gave board members an inside look at the STEM and Gifted and Talented department. They team up to give students hands-on experiences both during the school day and after school at Pirate Camp. Some of the projects students have been involved in are building with specific materials (to hold weight or other challenges), robotics, water purification, compass tasks and more! Five high school students started a mission together this year, stayed the course and received their Seal of Biliteracy Certificates. This means they are proficient in two languages and they passed a comprehensive exam in order to be recognized for what is an impressive accomplishment. The Seal of Biliteracy is evidence of skills that are highly attractive to employers and colleges. Amber O'Neal guided the group throughout the process and did a fantastic job. Amanda Creamer, College and Career Coach, and Jerrie Price presented some of the many exposures our students are experiencing this year via job shadowing, internships, career seminars and group visits to various workplaces in the area. Check out the H.I.R.E.D. Newsletter here ~ https://5il.co/1nlz2 The newsletter features some of our pirates! The Greenland Board of Education was celebrated for School Board Member Appreciation Month. Each member will be featured in the coming days! #Gr8Day2BaPirate

We'd like to thank Pat Anderson for serving as President of the Greenland Board of Education. Pat and his family have been part of the community for many years. In fact, this is year 63 of an Anderson in Greenland Schools. Wow! His dad, brother and father-in-law all served as board members as well. When we asked Pat why he chose to serve, he said to ensure all students receive a good education and are set up for success after graduation. Pat and his wife Sherry both graduated from Greenland High School and have 3 children who are 4th generation pirates. #Gr8Day2BaPirate #SchoolBoardAppreciationMonth

Some of our high school students visited Rush Trucking to tour the body shop, sales floor, paint booth, and service department while hearing about careers in each area. We love local companies inviting us in to give students exposure to all types of careers. Give us a call if your company would like to partner with us! #Gr8Day2BaPirate
